Motor Vehicle Tax Bills Delayed

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 26, 2017

MOTOR VEHICLE TAX BILLS TO BE MAILED ONCE STATE BUDGET IS FINALIZED

NEW BRITAIN—The State of Connecticut’s budget is not finalized. Therefore, Mayor Erin Stewart is informing residents that annual motor vehicle bills that are usually due in July will not be part of the City’s regular tax bill mailing scheduled to go out this week.

Those who receive property tax bills will get a notice alerting them to the delay.

Once the budget is finalized and a motor vehicle tax rate is set, these annual bills will be mailed and residents will have 30 days to pay (without interest) based on the mail date.

The current motor vehicle cap is set at 37 mills.

Anyone with questions regarding these bills may contact the Tax Collector’s Office at 860-826-3317.
