Mayor Erin Stewart Brings City Hall Directly to the Community through her Mobile Mayor’s Office Event
New Britain, CT – Mayor Erin Stewart announced today she will be hosting a Mobile Mayor’s Office event this weekend as part of an ongoing effort to make local government more accessible and to directly connect with New Britain residents. The Mobile Mayor’s Office event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday January 23rd in front of the Aldi, located at 693 Farmington Avenue in New Britain.
“These Mobile Mayor’s Office events give me the chance to have productive conversations with residents in a casual and safe environment even during a pandemic,” said Mayor Erin Stewart. “Setting up in a place where most people frequently visit, such as a grocery store, I am much more accessible to address questions or concerns, discuss the exciting work my office has been doing and bring awareness to important programs.”
Mayor Stewart began hosting open office hours in 2014, and the Mobile Mayor’s Office events began back in 2018 as a more efficient way to help bridge the gap between New Britain City Hall and city residents. The casual nature and convenient locations of these events give people the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Mayor Stewart and her staff.
It is common for residents to feel disconnected from the government entities that are meant to serve them. This unique initiative works to bring municipal government directly to people throughout the city and make valuable connections between Mayor Stewart and her constituents. Attendees of the Mobile Mayor’s Office events can introduce themselves to Mayor Stewart, learn about City programs or initiatives, get updated information on economic development projects, and ask any City related questions they may have.
